Juan Formell y Los Van Van En El Malecon de la Habana

Productsdescription:

“The undisputed kings of the Cuban dance orchestras and one of the most influential forces in Afro-Cuban music”. That was the opinion once given by the respected Los Angeles Times about Los Van Van. This group from the Caribbean has worked hard for more than thirty years to earn that reputation. Untiringly, since they were founded in 1969 Los Van Van have represented their home country all around the globe with their music and constantly updated their sound. After two dozen albums, the secret of their success – as bandleader Juan Formell said in an interview with “Radio Progreso” – has been their constant willingness to innovate their music: “Los Van Van have survived for so many years because whenever we had a problem, then new musicians, new arrangements or new songs would always turn up.” "Tim-Pop con birdland" Here Los Van Van quoted Joe Zawinul’s fusion jazz classic "Birdland" in a furious big band arrangement and included synthesiser sounds reminiscent of Weather Report: the result is an exciting Latin percussion number with new-style rap rhymes that will make you want to dance. Further proof that the formation still has not lost its love of experimenting, after well over three decades in show business.
