Luis Frank Arias I Think of a Bolero

Productsdescription:

LUIS FRANK ARIAS Se me ocurre un Bolero (I Think of a Bolero) Nostalgic boleros by the former members of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club. Luis Frank (singer & leader of Soneros de Verdad) is a Son Cubano master and his command of this soulful Cuban music is unequalled. When the old gentlemen of the Buena Vista Social Club suddenly and unexpectedly became world famous, the result was that they had to give countless live performances all around the world. It was a heady affirmation for these mature musicians, but it was also a little too tiring. They needed a somewhat younger vocalist, but one who, despite tender years, still had all the facets of traditional Cuban music in their blood. The most famous of the venerable gentlemen and creator of the hymn, “Chan Chan” which became a world hit through the Buena Vista Social Club, said: “There’s really only one person. He already sang the first part in my own formation. He has our traditional music in his blood and he relates brilliantly to the audience too. Luis Frank, he’s the right guy.” They quickly reached an agreement, and from then on Luis Frank toured with the Club for a few years through all the continents. That was how Luis Frank became one of the most famous names of those who have succeeded convincingly in carrying the musical heritage of the Buena Vista out beyond the borders of Cuba ever since the huge boom in Cuban son. He did this most successfully with his own group SONEROS DE VERDAD in 2011 and 2012. They have given more than a hundred performances in the USA and all the European countries. In 2013 SONEROS are going on a for six-month world tour. “Not a single leg can keep still. This music is simply irresistible.” (bloom.de) — “effervescent joy of playing” (WOM-Journal) — “This music impresses us with its authenticity – it is what finally ‘washes us back’ to the origins of the Cuban wave.” (jazzdimensions.de) — “a thoroughly pleasing example of timeless Cuban sounds” (Jazziz) — “radiates hot-blooded passion and a strong sense of tradition” (Billboard) — “another remarkable performance of Cuba’s musical wealth” (cdnow.com) — “excellent musicians” (Urban Mozaik Magazine) — That was the praise from the media. The critics outdid each other in their enthusiasm. In spite of all this, Luis Frank took the time to record a solo album with only BOLEROS. “Se me ocurre un Bolero” (“I Think of a Bolero”). He had always been fond of this nostalgic music full of love. For this CD he wrote seven compositions of his own and mixed them with ten of the most famous bolero evergreens. This CD is a MUST for every true lover of good, romantic Cuban music.
