The Bar At Buena Vista

Productsdescription:

The Bar at Buena Vista Havana: the golden epoch of the 1950s. In the district of Buena Vista there is a Club called Club Social de Buena Vista, where the best-known artists meet. At the club bar they talk about Havana’s cultural life, make music and try out the latest dance steps. In the 1990s the club unexpectedly became world famous. The elderly gentlemen recorded a CD which catapulted them into the worldwide charts. The accompanying movie, “Buena Vista Social Club“, was even nominated for an Oscar.

“The Bar at Buena Vista” takes the listener back to the nostalgia of that era. Some of the great hits of that time were recorded by famous musicians in a way that only they know how. Pio Leiva, one of the legendary greats of the Buena Vista Social Club, sings the ballad “Desvuelo de Amor” and “Yo no soy mentiroso” which made him unforgotten in the whole of Cuba. The master of Cuban piano “Rubalcaba” interprets the Cuban world hit “El Manisero” and José Artemio Castaneda sings his song “Maracaibo Oriental” which he wrote for Beny Moré, promoting him to the ranks of the legendary Cuban composers. The greatest hit from the Buena Vista Social Club “Chan Chan”, composed by Francisco Repilado, better known as Compay Segundo, is sung by his nephews. Teresita Cartula, who together with Omara Portuondo was one of the most famous Cuban female vocalists of that era, sings the classic “Oye Ramon”.
